Brick Walk Fine Art is pleased to announce our next exhibition featuring recent paintings by Brooklyn-based artist, Ben Pritchard. Of his work the artist has observed "Since the early 2000s my paintings have developed towards what I think of as a personal abstracted language about my experience of the world. They are involved with developing an energy about them that relates to my experience of the "day" however I work on the oil paintings for years at a time in an attempt to divest them of any didactic impulse. I strive towards a personal understanding of "classicism" or an order that transcends any personal ego or desire in the work; strangely to me this has necessitated a gradual shrinking of the scale of the paintings. As they develop they get more specific and mysterious to me and yet more personal. I often name them after friends and think of them as portraits or bodies and sometimes locations but really they are accumulations of memory and energy and thinking in paint developed over time."

Ben Pritchard was born in Detroit and received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute, Chicago and an MFA from the Royal Academy of Arts in London, England. He was the recipient of a Joan Mitchell Foundation Award in
